23 Monday, September 22 Elkhorn, MB The wind is definitely playing itself against me again, as I feared. Coupled with a late start, I didn't get very far today. About 85km, and that only because I was pushing myself to make the Manitoba border, which I did just after dusk. Then it was about 20km to the next town where I could get dinner. I passed through Moosomin today, which apparently was at one point the capital of the Northwest Territories (before Alberta & Sask. existed as provinces). Interesting, though there isn't much left of the town today. I haven't spent much time in Manitoba yet, but already I can say that I don't think much of the roads. Macadamed all the way, and with an unbelievable amount of crap scattered over the shoulders. I don't think they are ever cleaned, or anything. Makes riding on the bike quite difficult. O well. I gather N. Ontario's roads are even worse...
