Finally got my bike fixed in Regina yesterday & spent
the night in the Youth Hostel. I already spent a lot
of time (too long, I fear) on the Internet, so I
didn't do a journal entry yesterday. Besides, not much
to tell. Like I said, I got my bike fixed, spent a
whole bunch of time on the internet, was too tired to
do much else. The bus ride from Swift Current was
horrible. I made the mistake of taking the night bus
(3:40 AM) and arriving in Regina just after dawn.
Seemed like a good idea at the time, but I got no
sleep waiting for the bus (afraid I would miss it),
about 2 hrs of very uncomfortable sleep on the bus,
and arrived in Regina very tired, extremely cold
(-2 C), and with nothing open. Didn't know my way
around & couldn't even find a 7-11 (turned out there
was one a block & a half from the bus station, but I
didn't find it till later). Soanyway, the result of
this was that I didn't get too much done yesterday.
Today was little better. I got out of town at 11:00
only to blow another tyre. After looking at it, I
realized that the tyre itself had worn thin. In one
spot, the sidewall was pretty much gone. So parked
the bike, took the bus back downtown to a bike shop
& picked up a new tyre, as well as a portable pump
and a light for after dark, stuff I should have
already had anyway. So went back, changed the tyre
and *finally* got out of Regina at 5:30. Yuck, yuck,
yuck :(  O well, I still made 60km yesterday, so not
too bad in the long run. Hopefully, things will start
getting better tomorrow. Winter comes and I don't
have the time to mess around like this.
