74   Wednesday, November 12   Ithaca, NY

It appears that I am in Ithaca. I actually made it in one day. That's not 
bad, considering that it's 80 miles (130km) here from Syracuse. I had 
originally budgeted 2 days, but I got up extra early today (Okay, the 
Youth Hostel kicked me out at 9:00, but I was actually out by about 8:15), 
and pedalled like mad all day, trying to make up for lost time. Finally 
did it in just over 10 hours. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Light snow 
almost all day today. That's fine though. Not much on the ground. Also a 
bit of ice, but by 10:30 or so, that had pretty much melted, except for a 
few small patches. A bit of an "up-and-over" day today, or rather, more 
like an up-and-across-and-over. I was climbing for about the first 20 
miles (30km) out of Syracuse, then little ups and downs, then the last 20 
miles were also pretty much downhill. That accounts for the good time. If 
it hadn't been for that, I don't think I would have made it until quite 
late. Maybe not till tomorrow. But I am here, and that is good. This being 
the case, I hope to get this online soon... maybe tomorrow... so you can 
read it then.
